We currently have 2 medical camps, Ludhiana and Admedghar and a hospital in Chamba. These medical camps are run by a Dr and a team of nurses from the local hospital. They see between 300 and 500 patients in one day who would not otherwise have any access to medical care. The type of medications delivered include antibiotics, ear and eye drops, cough medicine, diarrhoea and sickness tablets and medication for skin allergies. For major illnesses, patients are sent to the local hospital and are treated either for free or at a very discounted rate. Over the past few years Transforming Lives has also been able to deliver Typhoid, Hepatitis B and Rota virus vaccinations to those living in the slum communities. The role of the medical clinics is to medicate the local community and ensure the health and wellbeing of the local people, in order to prevent the spread of sickness and disease.
